An Interview with Intravenous, February 2024

Hi, I am the sole member of Intravenous as of right now. I produce my music electronically online with free programs. I hope to get some traction so I can use more quality equipment and gain connections. I strive to have an indie/alternative/alt-rock sound. I would say the song I have out now “Judgement Day” leans more towards indie due to my limited resources. Music is such a passionate thing in this world and I hope to find success in it.

An Interview with Beefcake, July 2025

How would you describe your sound?  We describe our sound as “Crunchy Indie”. The term started as a playful joke, but it perfectly sums up our approach. “Crunchy” highlights our use of distorted electric guitars and raw sonic energy, while “Indie” reflects our commitment to blazing our own trail without being boxed into a single genre. It's a nod to both our musical style and our DIY approach to being in a band.     How was the band formed/How did the members decide to start a band? BEEFCAKE was born from long-standing friendships and a shared passion for music. Rey and Andrew met  as teenagers, and their musical journey evolved over the years, while Nick and Pete, childhood best friends, naturally bonded over playing & listening to music together. In the winter of 2021, Andrew would travel from Alexandria to Richmond to collaborate with Rey on songs. By spring 2022, when Andrew and Pete both moved to Richmond, the stars aligned even further. During a tour o...

How would you describe your sound? What interests you about your genre(s) specifically? Describing sound in a written format is hard, but I think my sound is a culmination of the geography of where I live; Missouri has a huge history itself and the city founded on the river has roots in blues, country and rock & roll. Personally, my life changed the day my cousin put me onto Daft Punk’s “Discovery” in 2001. I wasn’t into electronic forms of music back then, I loved metal or post-hardcore. After that however, I’d spend hours delving into the deepest parts of Limewire trying to satiate my newfound love for French House music. The rich history of house music as a whole could be its own interview. Therefore, having so much to choose from makes for a big melting pot, which is how I could best describe my sound. As for what interests me about them, if you couldn’t tell I’m a huge history buff but besides that, one thing in particular would be the endless possibilities electronic mus...

How would you describe your sound?  I would say that my music is a little out there at times. It has that dreamy and surreal kind of nature, with a hint of melancholy - and instruments, a good amount of instruments haha.  Who/what inspires your music?  I’m greatly inspired by Akira Yamaoka’s music in the original Silent Hill games 1 through 4, Kikiyama’s work on Yume Nikki, and alias Conrad Coldwood’s music in the game OFF. These are my three core influences, but depending on the song I’ll incorporate other inspirations, that’s for you to find out. Although, lately I’ve been re-listening to UNKLE and Tomonori Tanaka’s work on the ost for Garage Bad Dream Adventure which is definitely cooking something up in my brain. Tell me about your work in producing music for video games!! How does this process differ from traditional music making?  Well, I first got my start on Newgrounds around in 2023. I had barely gotten scouted to the audio portal months prior. I...
